Character Busts by LittleSpaceStars Character Busts by LittleSpaceStars
So, I thought it would be a fun idea to make their names look similar to the way their handwriting would look! . . . it was a pain in the ass. :dummy:

YEAH.

Well, I definitely need to work on shoulders/neck/and how big I make the head. They'd need bigger shoulders in this case. :O_o:

ANYWAY.

Name: Jeevan Everett Moore
Age 35
Height: 6’5’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
Birth date: November 22nd
Occupation: Firefighter
Religion: Atheist, but somewhat spiritual (he’s seen things he can’t exactly explain without sounding like he’s clinically unwell).
Likes: Burgers (or any red meat), Chicago, working out, shooting ranges, fixing up/remodeling cars, and Asian women.
Relations: Father of Jack and Jackie. Husband of Jiya.
Basic description: Looking quite intimidating at 6’5’’, Jeevan may not look like the kind of guy who will take your shit—and that’s true. Don’t get the wrong idea about him though. Underneath all that meat and muscle is a big ole’ teddy bear just wanting a hug, his wife insists there is. Even though there are times when Jeevan seems detached from the world, or ready to pop a bullet in your ass (assuming you’re male and are goggling at his daughter), he’s actually not that bad of a guy; he has some humor and typically doesn’t want to cause trouble. Although he does what’s right for his family and friends, he still can’t help but be plagued with some unpleasant memories from the past that just don’t want to leave him alone. And, oddly enough, these unpleasant memories come in unpleasant forms—forms that he swears to believe are ghosts.

Name: Acacia “Casey” Rae Fletcher
Age: 16
Height: 5’0’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight (though she’s very naive about a lot of sexual things)
Birth date September 21st
Occupation: High school student
Religion: Agnostic, with Buddist tendencies
Likes: Anything odd or eccentric, photography, and older men (reason why she’s ogling Jeevan. LOL)
Relations: Best friend of Jack and Nikki, and friends with the rest.
Basic description: Having surpassed the border of obnoxiousness, Casey manages to be an outgoing weirdo that everyone [unfortunately?] knows and [doubtfully] loves. Loud, quirky, and goofy, Casey just doesn’t care what people think of her, which tends to be a great quality . . . even though most of the time she just can’t take a hint from people. She’s open about everything and anything, and typically finds awkward conversations to be the most endearing (unless it’s sexual, pfft).

Name: Jun “Jiya” Cherona Carol Moore (Toscano)
Age: 35
Height: 5’2’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
Birth date: October 16th
Occupation: Caterer/restaurant owner
Religion: Agnostic/Humanist/some Buddhism
Likes: Cooking/baking, Halloween movies, and teasing her husband.
Relations: Mother of Jack and Jackie. Wife of Jeevan.
Basic description: Practically the epitome of affection (no seriously, Jack complains about her babying him all the time), Jiya cares wholeheartedly about her family and friends and puts them before herself, which can lead to her being taken advantage of. Thriving with energy, she often gets ecstatic about some of the most insignificant, or overlooked things, convinced that she can make some good out of the bad. She will often ramble off into Japanese when agitated or worried, much like her overbearing mother.

Name: Susan Marie Blaine
Age: 38
Height: 5’4’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight, but she often makes comments about women that make her seem, or hint that she’s bisexual. (She’s really open about things that would make the average person uncomfortable).
Birth Date: March 18th
Occupation: Nurse
Religion: Previous Christian
Likes: Honest men, cheesy Chick Flicks to make fun of, and wine.
Relations: Mother of Gage, adoptive mother of Finn.
Basic Description: Having ended a not so great marriage with her cheating husband nearly a decade ago, Susan’s used that time to “cope,” and has since gotten her act together, no longer sleeping around with men (usuuaaally). She’s close to her son, Gage, and adopted son Finn, often understanding what’s going through their teenage minds. Straightforward and completely honest, Susan’s very open about things, especially when it comes to the human body (half of this due to the fact that she’s a nurse).

Name: Jacqueline “Jackie” Linn Moore
Age: 17
Height: 5’4’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
Birth date: October 31st
Occupation: High school student and hostess.
Religion: Agnostic
Likes: Competition, organic foods, advanced yoga, 80s/90s music, being a leader.
Relations: Daughter of Jeevan and Jiya. Twin sister of Jack.
Basic Description: Behind all the gristle of her attitude, and the sometimes searing pain of her bitchiness, Jackie hides a much more lenient, more vulnerable, and almost playful side of her that only her family and close friends get to see—a side that plays juvenile pranks on her twin brother, has an irrational fear of clowns, and listens to 80s/90s music. Jackie is a go-getter girl who’s always alert and with the program. Most guys say she’s unattainable; that the only way you can really approach her is if she really just approaches you.

Name: Alyssa “Nikki” Nicole Wilson
Age: 17
Height: 5’2’’
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
Birth date: October 11th
Occupation: High school student, tutor, and worker at the grocery store.
Religion: Agnostic/Christian.
Likes: Studying, art, goofy guys.
Relations: Best friend and girlfriend of Jack. Best friend with Casey. Friends with the rest.
Basic description: While she's a complete workaholic and always has to keep herself busy with something—anything (be it volunteering or hobbies), Nikki cares deeply for her friends and does her best to make them happy, even if it means sacrificing some of her own wants or goals.

Name: Jackson “Jack” Joseph Allen Moore
Age: 17
Height: 6’2’’ (still growing)
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Birth date: October 31st
Occupation: High school student and host (at his mother’s restaurant)
Religion: Agnostic
Likes: Halloween, singing/acting, Freddie Mercury, fire, and strawberries.
Relations: Son of Jeevan and Jiya. Twin brother of Jackie. Best friend and boyfriend of Nikki, best friend of Casey, friends with the rest.
Basic description: That overall goof with the big, stupid grin who talks to everyone and anyone, even if they’re not so nice. Always eager to make new friends, Jack sometimes seems a bit too happy, which may be one of the reasons he’s had difficulties making them in the past; however he’s always happy to talk to people just to talk, even if they react negatively. Although quite clueless, accident-prone, and extremely impulsive, Jack’s the glass half-full kind of guy who typically has the best intentions, even if they backfire in the end. He’s practically a ten year-old trapped inside a seventeen year-old's body, hyperness and naivety very much included. Times two.

Name: Gage Lawrence Carver
Age: 18
Height: 6’0’’
Birth date: June 22nd.
Occupation: High school student,
Religion: Agnostic
Likes: 80s/90s music, singing and playing his guitar, socializing, anime babes.
Relations: Son of Susan, adoptive brother of Finn. Best friend and boyfriend of Jackie. Friends with the rest.
Basic Description: He's the nice guy. You know the one: the annoyingly, super nice social butterfly that talks to everyone in school, even if he doesn't know them. Comes off as a douche sometimes, like he's just talking to you to get something out of you, but he's actually just genuinely trying to meet new people and make somebody's day. Good Guy Gage has a big heart, is a talented musician, and one heck of a soccer/hockey goalkeeper.

Name: Winnie “Winry” Cho Donovan
Age: 16
Height: 5’4’’
Birth Date: April 29th
Occupation: High school student
Religion: Agnostic
Relations: Niece of Jeevan and Jiya. First cousin of Jackie and Jack. Friend with benefits with Finn.
Likes: Fixing anything with an engine, partying, football players, and parakeets.
Basic Description: Originally a very shy and collected girl, Winry came out of her shell at the beginning of her high school year. With a new pixie cut, and a new attitude to compliment it, she’s ready to take on a different approach. Now flirtatious and daring, Winry’s seeking the attention that she previously lacked in her middle school years.

Name: Finnion “Finn” Harlem
Age: 19
Height: 5’4 1/2’’
Birth Date: January 13th
Occupation: High school student
Religion: Atheist
Likes: Sex, looking good, food, hip bones, puppies.
Relations: Adoptive son of Susan, adoptive brother and best friend of Gage. Friends with benefits with Winry. Friends with rest.
Basic Description: One of the most egotistical, arrogant, pigheaded people you will ever meet, unless you know him well. Known as both a womanizer and a killer linebacker on the football team, there's more to Finn than you'd think. A victim of four years of on and off severe child abuse under the hand of his drunk and grieving mother, Finn was taken in by neighbors and long time friends, Susan and Gage Carver at the age of fourteen/fifteen. Still dealing with the physical and emotional damage dealt by his mother with the help of a therapist, Finn does a good job hiding it all with the ego he has built up over the years.

Well, as of right now a bit stressful, I guess. I'm pulling together an art portfolio for art colleges, and I still have yet to apply to them, so that's really freaking me out. Mmm . . . aside from that, feeling better than I was a couple weeks ago. :O_o:

I think I like Jiya the best. :D

And your head anatomy has really improved. I also like the poppy painterly feel your coloring technique has. Well, it always has that, but... I just thought I'd say that I like it. :lmao:

B'aww, really? Ahaha, I think she was the most fun to color because of her clothes, and the lighting on her face. Jack's right after that. I liked coloring his tie and jaw. :lmao:

Oh, pfft. Thanks. :iconohstopityouplz: Yeah, I didn't realize how weird I drew jaws two years ago. And I never realized how flat my coloring was. I mean, it still needs improvement, but there's definitely some depth in their faces now. :O_o: Eventually I want to do the complete painting kind of thing, only without the aid of hard lines, you know? I don't really do cell shading, but I still color them somewhat 3D. They're getting more dimension. I dunno. XDD

Hmm, I think you can definitely practice and get to that level of painting, with lots and lots of practice. That's some intense shit. :O_o:

Maybe just scratch the lineart all together, and just focus on shading. If you do it correctly, you don't even really need lineart, if that's the look you wanna go for. Maybe just scan in the tight pencil sketch and then paint layers over it without using solid line art. Skip the inking process, I guess is what I'm saying.

Right? Gahhh. Especially if you want it to look all sleek and crisp too. Like you just took out the solid line art. Definitely has to do with lighting and building up layers. Gahh. I think I've been getting a lot better with that though. :O_o:

I've tried in the past when I seriously didn't know what I was doing in Photoshop, but . . . I think now that I've been using it for a couple years, and I'm in a class at school that's solely directed at painting, it's helped me with dimension, and not relying on solid line art (I mean, I know not to do that, but for some reason it's weird with my cartoon illustrations, or with painting for whatever reason). It was honestly one of the hardest transitions ever. Pfft. Especially since I wasn't really allowed to sketch it out on the canvas; my teacher wanted me to just use a really light paint to plan out where everything went on my painting. Painting just . . . feels so foreign to me. I have no idea why. Must be because I've never seriously painted before until this year. I feel lost without my pencils. OVERCOMING THAT THOUGH. :lmao:

But yeah, I see what you're saying! I'll have to mess around with that this weekend or something. Like, get a reference for lighting, so I'll have a bit of a guideline and not blindly jump into shading it. Experiment with layers and what not. :D

She what?

Okay... I'm sorry, but... how the hell does your paintings have any structure if you can't sketch it out first? :iconwthplz: It's like you're... you're blindly painting from your brain.

You at least do thumbnails for composition though, right? So you know what you're going for?

Here's something I did in my color theory class (the teach was all about painting): Sketch it out on some paper the same size as your canvas, then get some transfer paper (also same size) and a pencil, trace the drawing onto the transfer paper, then flip the transfer paper over (with the side you drew on lying face-down) and place it on the canvas, and trace over it again. It'll transfer a light pencil line to the canvas, then you can start painting and the drawing should be so light, it shouldn't show up underneath the paint.

I get what the teacher is saying though, if you paint over a drawing, depending on how thick the paint is, sometimes you can see the graphite under it. :O_o: But... still. That method sounds like a paint in the ass. I'd fuck that up big time.

Er . . . ah, shit. I mean, I sketch it out first, just not on the canvas. So, I have a rough draft. It's just on the canvas I'm sketching it out with the paint and not a pencil, and I look at the rough draft for reference. I mean, it was with acrylics, so if I messed up, I could just paint right over. I think she just wanted me to think of it like sketching it out with pencil like I would on my 2D drawings. Or something. I dunno. I was already hesitant about the painting thing (like, "Mrs. Snead. I . . . I can't do this. WHAT DOES IT MEAN. :iconwthplz:", pfft), so she probably just wanted me to think of it as the same thing. My next painting project I get to sketch out on the actual canvas. Pfft. Sooo, that may have just be a one-time thing. :lmao:

I hope that was a one-time thing, because that just... that doesn't sound right. I've never heard of "sketching with the brush". :lmao: Maybe it was one of those, "BEEE THE BRUSH, FEEEEEL THE CANVAS!" types of thing, and she just wanted you to get a feel of the brush. Loosen up your painting wrist or something. I feel like my painting would be an utter failure if I was just looking at my thumbnail or sketch and trying to recreate it using only paint and a brush. LOLNOPE. I would've cheated.

I think it was because it was literally one of my first paintings. Pfft. I mean, you could argue that would be all the more reason for using a pencil, but . . . I dunno. I have some people in my 2D class that are in there for painting instead of drawing and . . . they just start painting without sketching it out in pencil on the canvas first. I just . . . I DON'T EVEN. Like, they know how to paint, but they can't really draw. It's weird. I'm like . . . the opposite. Pfft. :iconwthplz:

It wasn't bad . . . I mean, at first I seriously had to repaint my goddamn canvas like, three times because I messed some stuff up (like seriously, just the blending the background was giving me hell; that's one of the reasons why there's so many coats), but . . . sketching it out with the paint wasn't too bad. Kinda weird, but I didn't mess it up once I got the hang of it. Plus, I think it helped that my canvas was small. If it had been any bigger I would've been like, "LOLNOPE. PENCIL PLEASE." My pop art painting I'm sketching out . . . the canvas is just . . . yeeeeah. It's a whole lot bigger. Like, it's gotta be over 20 inches, both length and height. I would've killed myself if she told me not to sketch it out with a pencil. :lmao:

Ahhh these are so awesome. I love how well developed your characters are. Seriously, they're so realistic. <3

It's funny how I just love Finn, but if I knew him in real life (or if he went to my school) I'd really hate him. PFFT. Also, I'd probably be afraid of Jackie, but I would totally admire her awesomeness from afar. c:

You improved so much, it's crazy. They all look great! And I thought it was awesome how you wrote their names in the handwriting you'd think they'd have. I can totally see Jack with that handwriting. Ahaha. xD;;

Ooohh, pssshhh. Well, thanks, Lizzy. ;___;

Oh, I'd react the same way. Pfft. If Finn went to my school I'd seriously think he's the biggest douche. :lmao: . . . it'd take a lot of convincing from Gage to make me change my mind. Ahahaaa. Or I'd have to see the other side of Finn firsthand. Honestly, Finn's just a sad, fat kid on the inside with a low self esteem. That's how it was when he was younger; he's just covering it up for the sake of his ego. XDDD

And I'd probably be afraid of Jackie too. Or would at least avoid her. I mean, she's not mean to everyone, but at the same time, she isn't extremely nice to people. Like, if she doesn't know you, she'll be indifferent. But if you do something to piss her off and she doesn't know you, she's not going to be very nice. PFFT. XDD

D'oh. Psshh. Well, I'm so glad you think so. :iconohstopityouplz: Oh, it was really a pain. Pfft. I had to look up different fonts to help me with it because the fonts I downloaded just . . . didn't want to work with their names, so I had to write them in the style it was based off of. A few of the fonts did work, but the majority just . . . did not. And I totally should've made Jack's messier! But it's close! It's like, a little kid's handwriting almost. Ahahaa. :lmao:

Ahaaaa. A lot of my characters don't seem to be very religious. XDD

Oh, psshhh. You too. ;___;

And no! I've been meaning to get one, but my laptop doesn't have a webcam. I mean, the other computer does, but someone's always on it. :iconimhorrifiedplz: . . . auugghh. Looks like I'll not only be needing a new hard drive for Christmas, but a webcam! . . . unless the webcam works on my laptop. O__o . . . but I'd still need the new hard drive to use it. Pfft. Too much crap on my laptop.
