Chapter 12

Everything that resided in the castle was now still as no one spoke. Heartless swarmed through the halls and wyverns ripped through the sky, taking the streams of the light with them.

From deep within the main corridor a raspy elegant voice echoed through the passages. “You ran them out of the castle, right?”

“Of course! Right out the window as you said.” The giant cat perked his stubby ears and crossed his arms in pride. “Uh, what are we going to do with them?” He directed his arm to the far end of the passageway. Down at the end of the crimson embroidered rug stood two people. A boy and girl. The girl had stunning blonde glossy hair and pure snow-white skin. The young man had slightly spiky darkened blonde hair and tanned skin. Each containing astonishing blue eyes. Together they locked hands at their side, trying to feel like they were safe.

“As long as there nowhere near Sora and Kairi, everything will be fine. Soon Sora’s heart will collaspe. His heart will break along with Kairi’s. As long as we have their nobodies we will control all the worlds.” The cackling witch explained. “Without the Keyblade Master the worlds will unlock themselves allowing us in with the Heartless and the nobodies. There is no one else to stop us Pete. We do not need the princesses’ hearts to take over. At least not all of them. Namine’ knows how to interfear with people’s hearts and the heart’s of worlds. She could open the keyholes to the worlds forever. Not even the Keyblade Master would be able to lock them back up.” She turned to face Namine’ the petite innocent looking girl who was behind Roxas in his fear of caring.

His arm extended out in front of her small frame and a cold expression swept acrossed his face. His one arm in front of her couldn’t protect them. His bitter glare couldn’t possibly make them avoid their clutches. He had nothing left to use, nothing to give. Not even for the life of Namine’s, nor himself.

“So how did you take em’ away from Kairi and Sora? I don’t get it…” Pete crossed him arms tighter and his mouth shriveled up and twisting in a though of useless thinking.

“The shards in the stain glass window you ran them through. It holds mystical properties. Such as to show what is really there and sometimes what is not there.” Malficent spiraled her razored fingernail around the orb of her staff and heartless materialized out of the haziness of the dark. Wyverns shifted through the halls forwarding towards the unarmed teens, spiraling in unpredictable zigzags. How marvelous the creatures of the sky were, but how deadly they could be. With their erratic movments Roxas and Namine’ couldn’t do anything to protect themselves. With them torn completely from Sora and Kairi, Roxas couldn’t summon the Keyblade. The wyverns were now at a circling point as if they were vultures waiting for the death of their prey.

Roxas’ opposite hand was now out at the other side of him reflecting the other side of his body perfectly. His stood out perfectly straight as if he were being binded by ropes, tieing him to a wall. Or maybe even a time when he battled Twilight Thorn, his body paralyzed in a strong fasten.

But at this time nothing would call off the wyverns not Roxas’ protective arms or his caring heart that been torn in half as he and Sora were disconnected. Not even Namine’s abilities of tampering with people’s hearts could help them. The wyverns consisted of no hearts. They were trapped, but it seemed to take forever for it just to be done and over with.

At that very thought, a wyvern took it’s strike sending Roxas backwards onto his now brusied back.

“Roxas!” Was all Namine’ could say. There was no way to help him except to get him back to his feet. She felt so helpless. The bottom of her blue strapped sandels skidded acrossed the floor and she swiftly came to a stop beside him lending a delicate hand for him to warm. But as he did take her willing hand warmth seemed to escape them. The bitter arctic feeling arose in the castle as more heartless entered. The light that had faintly flickered was now long gone… Light had escaped them and it was the only thing keeping them from giving up.

Gash on his contrary arm, he got to his feet willing to fight with all that he had the ability to do so. The wyverns seemed to taunt him with their continuous spirals and flips. It was how free they were and how they were not. His unharmed hand gripped around his suspending arm at the shoulder, trying to slow the bleeding. Everything seemed to begin to wurl around him in a blur. He was falling. Knees buckling, he collapsed to his shins. His hand supporting him. Maintaining him from failing. The pressure of it all. Not too long ago they were with Kairi and Sora now they were… The light in Sora and Kairi’s souls seemed to flicker off as they had crashed through the shards of the window. Something in the shards of the glass, or even the force around it… Something…but what? As their light had flickered off for that very second they seeped through; out into the world. When they gathered themselves it was as if they were reborn. A first breath. But everything came back to them and they had no idea what had happened. That was until Roxas thought it out.

The wyverns turned, charging full speed towards his back. His eyes darted back and forth waiting for the sounds of their gastly wind charges towards his back. At the right moment, he coiled up and dogderolled to the left flipping onto his back and next to Namine’s lap, on her knees trying to think.

The only way to get through was to fight. He picked himself up, and ran full speed towards the presence of darkness. Instead of coming intact with the heartless he faded through fully and fell face first into the ground. That could have been one of the most useless things he had done in his life. Why had he done that? Because he was angry? To get rid of the rage inside? Or maybe just to find a way out. Nothing made sense, yet, nothing had before…

He commanded his legs to lift him, but his muscles refused. His mind was full of the energy that was needed to be supplied in his legs. It would never come. His feet felt peeled and prickled as his muscles twitched trying to get up. He repudiated the fact of not being able to save Namine’. He watched helplessly as heartless grabbed at her pure white skin. She tried everything to escape, but it was futile. They punchered the color staining it with their darkness and her own blood. It was the truth. Nobodies could bleed. They were like any other, only without hearts. Crimson, metallic flowing down her arm like fabric as it stretches.
He could only take control of his arm. Everything else was paralyzed it seemed. The thing he knew for sure that he couldn’t control was his nerve. He had not one left, he had passed that. It was his breaking point. His head became heavy in exchustion and it met with the floor. Streams of tears rolled down his face. No one seemed to be on his side. No one was left. They could separate him from Namine’ as well. Heartless carelessly gripped his arms and legs. On the floor was the only thing to prove his existence. His stain of tears.

Maleficent and Pete only watched as the unarmed teens were tugged off.

“Everything’s coming into line.” She cackled. Pete only gave a sheepish smile and twiddled his thumbs, not wanting to get in any trouble doing something perfectly harmless.

Heartless flooded through the halls and soaring through open windows, done with their flight. The whole castle itself was darkness. It had the darkest of them all. Maleficent. She was planning. ‘What does she want? She did explain how she wanted to control worlds, but it didn’t seem possible. Did she not need the Keyblade Master? He also unlocks hidden doors. Hidden secrets. She didn’t need them!’ Roxas thought. But then he was just saving himself and Namine’. He wasn’t caring about Sora and Kairi. ‘How much stress he must go through. He has to lock the doors and worry if everyone is okay. He’s fighting the darkness and fixing other people’s mistakes and problems. His goal is to protect everyone of his friends, every world.’  Many friends he had. The heartless stopped at a doorway and pushed him through. There was nothing in there, but the stillness of being alone.

He sat on his knees until his legs numbed. Roxas dropped to his side. Eveything he had was lost. Nothing would be the same until they fixed this. Where was Namine’? He had to find her. They had to find a way out. Gathering himself up he walked to the small four paned window. He tried pushing, pulling, tugging, lifting. That window wouldn’t budge. Peering out to the left was another section of the castle. There was a massive window staring back at him. Behind the glass was the thing that made the window taunt him. Behind it stood a figure, back to him. The person wore a pallid dress with lace and glossy blonde hair. Reality struck him like there was no tomorrow. Emotions begged to be used, pleaded to slip out. To slip from his eyelids. He couldn’t see her face. But he could see her shoulders shake up and down with sobs. He could almost hear her breathing as if she was standing next to him. Anxiety came into the abandoned spot of where her heart was meant to be as her selfesteem leaked out.

He tugged harder at the window. His pulling became shoving. Shoving to sobs. Pushing to rage. His soul was in flames as he pounded at the glass. He screamed out her name trying to tell her that he was near. He felt himself drown beneath his skin. The window fogged as his hand slid down the glass. The coldness of the window declined as the little warmth of his palm heated it. She couldn’t hear him. She’d never hear him. He was drowned out…or just not loud enough. But he couldn’t get any louder, his lungs smoldered inside, begging him to stop. He lie uselessly on the floor. What was he to do?  He coiled up on the floor. Bundling up everything he didn’t have. Was anyone looking for them? Everyone he used to care about were…dead. Everything he cared about now was out of his reach. He had no tears to cry. It was as if they had dryed out. Dry as his core. He was useless.

“Do…do you think Roxas and Namine’ are okay?” Kairi’s hand lowered off his cheek. She tried getting off the subject of their past memories. The more they would think, the more they would hurt.

Sora seemed to stiffen. His nobody. The person who was half of him. The person who held his memories and thoughts… His memories! Roxas has been keeping them the whole time! ‘He has the other half of them.’ Caressing them in the empty part of his soul. That was why he couldn’t recall them. Same goes for Namine’ and Kairi… Roxas and Namine’. The two nobodies who were never supposed to exsist. Well at least Roxas. Sora had sacrificed his heart and soul to bring Kairi back. The darkness cosumed his heart and left his body to “poof” into the other side of Twilight Town, creating Roxas. His birth. Even Sora too, was reborn. But he embraced his memories and soul. When Kairi lost her heart, she never really did. Sora looked through endless amount of worlds to find her, but she was with him the whole time, planted deep within his heart. When he returned her heart back to her soul… Namine’ was born. Born in the depths of darkness.

“I’m… sure thery’re fine…” He smiled falsely. How much he wanted to say the truth. How much he hated lieing. Kairi wasn’t a simple minded person though. She could see past his grin.

“What’s that?” She pointed next to the computer. A small laser beamed towards the floor. A tiny orb at the bottom.

“The portal to… The World That Never Was…” He paused. He should have destroyed it while he had the chance last time. Anyone could have came in here and went through. They could have been dangered. Another default in saving innocent people. There was always a problem when it came to saving people or when he had to fix their problems. He could have just left everyone in the worlds on their own. Alone in their own messes, yet… he didn’t. He couldn’t. His heart refused to let them go through their lives alone. He was there when they needed help and after doing so he ended making friends no matter what world he was on. Those many friends had a place in his heart. Everyone of them. Donald… Goofy! Where are they? Donal fell down the rabbit’s hole and Goofy was abandoned. Could they be in the same world right this minute? Could they be lost? Would they be searching for him? Would they ever give up? What if they were attacked. What if they… too many “what ifs” for Sora. Although it was only a couple he didn’t like the term ‘what if’… How many possible things he could say with that phrase.

“We’re going to have to get off this world and get to Hollow Bastion. Leon will know what to do. Maybe we’ll have to see the King. We have to find Donald, Goofy, and… Riku.” How hard that name was to say. Was it because they didn’t know where he is? No. It was because Sora could scarcely remember the name, but he could clearly remember the young man who owned it. His best friend. Being torn away from Roxas was making everything harder. Couldn’t they be separate people and have their own lives? It must not be fair to Namine’ and Roxas…

“Wait, where’s Donald and Goofy?” Kairi asked.

He turned a bit so he wasn’t facing the portal.

“I lost them. We were in Wonderland and Donald fell down the rabbit’s hole. I went down after him, but I couldn’t find him. Goofy waited at the top, so I’m not sure if he went looking for us. Maybe they got captured too…”

“We can only hope they’re safe. But I’ll do anything to help get them back… Riku too.” Kairi’s eyes beamed at his. She’d do anything to be of assistance.

“And I’m going to help.” Sora smiled back at her.

“How will we get out of here? We need to get to Hollow Bastion.”

“We could board the train. We could get to Yen Sid! He could help us.” His arms flailing around in excitement. “He helped us out when we woke up. I’m sure he could help us again. Come on.” They both turned their backs to the portal, forgetting the dark and went through doorway. Feeling the sides of the hall they found the stairs and stepped through the illuminated door. The brightness stung at their eyes making them water. Down the stairs there was broken glass and tables lying uselessly on the floor. Carfully they slipped past the shards and pushed open the massive door. Once out the sun revealed a sunset sky full of vibrant colors shades of oranges, red, purples, whites, and a light touch of blue. How it reminded them of the sunset at Destiny Islands. How the sun met the now purple sea and split the earth.

Those days they used to watch the day’s end from the paopu tree and talked about the raft they were so close to finishing. Until that day they did it was the last day to sit at the tree and talk about it.

They both gawked at the pulsating sky as if waiting for the stars to come out, although the stars never would. It was a world of twilight just as it was named after. Sunset throughout the whole entire day.

Kairi soon blinked out of the cherished memory. How it was crushed into pieces was what had broken her from the thought.

Sora saw her face crumple up and how it seemed to send a shiver down her back along with his. Her face was once content, but was now in disblief to allow herself to think of the memories. How much it hurt to not be able to allow herself to think up the happy moments of their lives.

“Come on.” He calmly grabbed her hand to pull her out of rising discomfort.

They had walked through the forest and climbed over the roots that popped up from underneath the ground trying to grab at their feet. Once out, they saw other town’s people roaming the streets. How simple, but dazzling the small town was. The warm colors of the buildings and brick orange and brown colored streets and sidewalks. It was all but a peaceful town. Peaceful indeed.

Boundlessly wandering up and down through the avenues and passages, Sora had finally recognized the street to the station. He lead them down the vivid brick pathway and sure enough the station plaza had shown up on the hill along with a clear view of the vibrant sunset. Passing up the steps of the station, voices from behind them called out.

“Sora?!” Startled, the two turned around to see Hayner and the gang running up the hill of the station.

“It is you and Kairi!” Olette called out of breath showing they had been running to catch up.

“We saw you two come out of the forest.” Pence added walking up to them, hands on his knees.

“It’s nice to see you guys again!” Kairi beamed.

“So how is everything?” Hayner asked, only to be cut in by Olette.

“I’m glad to see that you were united again!” Olette smiled back. “When you had been captured and we were hoping you’d come and find her Sora. So romantic!”

Sora felt his ears heat up in embarassment. How he didn’t like to show that emotion into the open. It rised out over his face, engulfing the temperature and color that was now a rosy red.

“Are you okay?” Kairi raised the back of her hand to his forehead.

“Great! Fine!” He sounded excited as it seemed like he was trying to move backwards, avoiding their puzzled faces.

But only to stub the back of his shoe on the station’s steps, he sat perched on the edge seeming astonished.

Hayner only laughed at the tomato faced boy, knowing what had set him off into stuttering and tripping over his own shoes.

“Wh-What’s so funny!” Sora pouted crossing his arms like a four year old being punished.

“You!” Hayner chuckled, bending over holding his stomach in humorous agony. Sora patted his hands onto his face as if hoping to cover his redness. It reminded him of when Kairi tugged him acrossed the street, his face changing into a darker shade of red with each step. Kairi collapsed next to him on the stair. Calmly she lifted a pasted hand from his face. He was unaware in his thoughts, looking down at the brick ground.

“Silly.” She remarked laughing. She then took the other hand off his face and placed it on his lap.

“So where are you going anyway?” Hayner said regaining himself.

“Erm…  to Yen Sid‘s. I guess you wouldn’t know who he is, but he’ll be able to help us.” Sora lifted his head, shaking off the dark shades of red that once plastered over him.

“Sounds like a plan then.” Answered Pence with a thumbs up.

“I guess so.” Sora closed his eyes in appreciated look and a grin stretched acrossed his face, almost to his ears.

“Well you’d better-” Olette was only cut off by the sound of the train whistle blowing alarming them that it was about to leave.

“That’s our cue!” Kairi smiled. “We’ll come and see you soon! And then we can talk about everything!” The gang waved at her as she made her way up the brick steps to maybe at least stall the train.

But it was Sora who didn’t move from his spot. ‘And then we can talk about everything.’  It seemed to burn at him with surprise and somewhat a rage. Why would those words make him feel like this? He felt like he had heard those words before. But, where? Closing his eyes dimly he felt himself ascend deep within himself as if he were sinking. He felt chains brush up against his arms although there was nothing in this pit of darkness. It was oblivion. A void of nothing. If this was his heart where were all of his memories? Where is his heart? Where is his…light?

‘Roxas. Nobodies like us are only half a person. You won’t disappear. You’ll be whole!’

  ‘I’ll…disappear…?’

‘No, you won’t disappear! The faint memory skipped into another piece like a heart beat.

‘Roxas! We will meet again. And then we can talk about everything. I may not know it’s you and you may not-’

“Hey? Sora. Dude.” Hayner shook a hand in front of the dazed boy who had his eyes wide open. “Hellooooo?” He raised his voice and wobbled Sora back and forth from heel to toe. “Your train is about to leave!”

Sora shook his head disbelievingly side to side. He had seen Roxas’ memory. Was he losing his?

  “What’s wrong?” Olette asked.

“Kairi’s waiting for you. That train probably won’t wait for you if you don’t get on.”

“Oh!” Sora seemed to wake up from a bad dream.

“Go man!” Hayner gave him a slight push towards the steps. Sora had caught his balance and waved one last time to the gang.

About to push at the glass reflective doors, he looked at the face in the door that stared back at him. But that “thing” staring at him wasn't his reflection. It couldn’t be with the iridescent yellow eyes. They stared back through him in a steely glare. The eyes of the reflection were almost alien-like as they glowed and never blinked. The rest of his reflection looked perfectly normal. His black battle outfit, his honey yellow shoes, the spikey hair. All but the eyes.

He shook his head once more wishing that the reflection would poof out of existence. As he opened his eyes Kairi was staring back through the thin glass with a ‘what are you doing?’  look. She immediately opened the door to let in the stunned Sora and quickly asked what train they were taking.

“Uh… it should be a purple one with stars and moons on it.” He remarked looking back behind him at the mirror. “Oh, wait! We need tickets right?”

“I have that under control.” Smirked a prepared Kairi.

  “Where did you-”

“Purse, Sora” She pointed to the black wallet purse tied to the side of her outfit.

“Right.” He chuckled. “I’ll pay ya back.”

Walking towards the train platform, soon enough a purple train with golden shapes of the stars and golden embroidments was whisling at them to get on. They boarded the mysterious train and watched as the slide open doors closed behind them. They each took their seat on the one side of the train. With one more whistle of the train it pulled off down the tracks.

Kairi peered out the little star shaped window and sighed relief as the train ride was calm. The sound of the train moving forward and the calm even rikkity of the train sliding over the tracks, was soothing enough to make Kairi tilt her head onto his shoulder and dooze off.

Sora could only smile as she looked pretty even when she was sleeping. He brushed away a stray strand of hair from her forehead and leaned back into the soft cushion of the seat. He was feeling a bit tired too, but he had to watch for their stop.

The train tracks illuminated and the outside of the train shone brightly indicating that they were past border of Twilight Town. The tracks now glowed a bright eerie green seeming to light their way.

Gazing out at the far side rectangle window, the winds of oblivion shot out in strands. The sky and air was all the different colors of every world it seemed. The red hues of Twilight Town, the green from Deep Jungle, the purple dimmed sky of Radiant Garden. Together the world’s colors formed a beauteous aurora lights in the distance and seethed down the sides past them. The sunset back home looked like nothing compared to this. The colors mixed together as the heues and shades of the sunset did, but there was something more magical about the lights here. The whole demesion seemed paranormal… because it was.
Well here's the long awaited chapter... Since I took forever and got stuck on it and comsumed time then let's hope it's not a disapointing chapter.

Yes there is KairixSora fluff and NaminexRoxas fluff. I don't want to hear stuff about how you might hate kairi and how Sora loves Riku or something that doesn't make sense at all. ;) Haha! He's not in a lover realationship with his friend. Just because he grabbed his BELT (read it... BELT) doesn't mean he loves him... Many people of you may not of heard of WW1 and stuff... nor crying for him makes him love him. Haven't you cried for a friend? :/ No? What kind of friend are you then? Very emotionless... >_< Well at least tell me you've cried before, then your okay. :XD: in a way... -.- lawl

Yeah i don't own Kingdom Hearts... otherwise Kairi and Sora would have already kissed in KH1. ;) Haha ^^
