Ice Cream and Hostages

“I’m not sure if I can eat this all.”

Jack lets out a chuckle. “You’re the one who ordered it.”

“Yeah,” Nikki says with a sheepish smile, “But I didn’t expect it to be this big!”

“Do you want something smaller?”

“No,” She shakes her head and eagerly smiles down at what they would both agree is absolute perfection. “I mean, I don’t want to send it back. Y’know, wasting food.”

“That’s a good point.” He leans against his hand. “What’s your plan then? I mean, you’d still be wasting food if you can’t eat it all.”

“Yoooouu should help me eat this.”

His eyes connect with hers and he loses track of his breath. “Hm?”

“You—Jack Moore,” she says with a quirked eyebrow, “Should help me—Nikki Wilson—devour this frozen masterpiece.”

“I dunno about that.” He cracks a grin and reaches for casual, but misses it by a couple feet. “That’d look pretty suspicious considering I’m your best friend, not your boyfriend.”

“What, best friends can’t share ice cream?”

He twists his mouth to the side. “Well . . . sure they can.”

Of course they can, he thinks.

“Then grab a spoon, you goof.”

Almost smoothly, he grabs one and holds it between his index finger and thumb. “Watch out, I’m armed.”

“Good.” She’s bubbling with giggles and she beams at the ice cream. “I’ll even let you take the strawberry part of it hostage.”

He smiles; she knows him too well.

“But, I’m begging you,” she says in mock drama, “Please leave the cherry behind. I don’t know what I’d do without it.”

Her eyes meet his and he can’t help but think how adorable she is. He’s forcing himself not to scoop her into his arms. “I wouldn’t dream of taking it.”

Probably weren't expecting the colored version to be at night. Hahaa. Neither did I. There's actually two versions: one at night, and one during the daytime. The one during the day is still being colored and I'm debating on whether or not I should upload that one too when it's done, or if I should just upload it to my Facebook.

STARS. I like drawing them. A lot. So don't be surprised if some upcoming drawings deal with them. Most likely because I love them and . . . I like bright and shiny things, and it seems like I'm getting a little more comfortable with color palettes. I truckin' love blue. *SHOT*

And yes, I made some perspective mistakes. Specifically with the booth to the left. Meerrrrr.

. . . anyway, I'm going to go crash now. I'm leaving for Chicago in the morning and I'm still not entirely . . . packed. D8 *FAIL*

"Are you happy?" I ask her. My face is pressed to my knees as we sit on the brick wall at the back of the school, and I can feel her shift a little at my side. I lift my head and look down at her.

She tilts her head and smiles up at me like I'm an old friend of hers. "Of course I am, you goof."

No, I want to tell her, No you're not. How can you be? I feel sick, dizzy, and like the world's going to crumble beneath us as I smile back and say, "Good." My heart is caught in my throat, and I try my hardest to swallow it, but it won't go back down.

I met her today in my American Literature class.

A side-story about them is here: All I'll Do is Burn Up - NikNack It’s been half an hour after school has let out, and we’re still here in the theater, but I don’t mind it. Not if I’m with her.
“Hey, does this flower look like a flower?”
“Hmm?” I look over in her direction, wishing that I had been watching her paint instead of reciting my lines to myself.
“I think I might need to add a lighter blue to the petals.”
“What’re you talking about?” I walk across the theater’s stage and look at the background she’s brought to life.
“It looks . . . flat.” She stands to her feet and looks up at me,
